8 Mistakes to Avoid Making When Buying a Sawill

#1. Underestimating how useful your personal sawmill can become

I bought an LT15 about 15 years ago. One day a call came in asking me if “I owned a sawmill?”  The reason for the call was an order for 30 12×12’s.  That one order could have paid for two sawmills like mine. With no idea that people were willing to hire my mill for special projects that they might be unwilling to buy a sawmill for, calls like this became pleasant surprises. And now they are part of my week!

  • Don’t underestimate how much work a portable sawmill can do.
  • Don’t underestimate how much income can come from just using it 2 or 3 days each month.
